Connection Groups

The NEW Connection Groups Booklet for the Winter Semester is ready! It will be available in our lobby starting Sunday, January 15. But why wait until then. You can download the booklet right here.
Make sure and join one of these many groups and make some connections. You can also find the descriptions for these groups below.
Creation Science Study
How do you fit dinosaurs into the Bible? Big bang or what? Did creation really take 6 days? How did we get here? Was there really a world wide flood? How old is the Earth?

Do you have questions like these? The Creation study is the one for you!

Led by Del Fisher, this group will be meeting on Thursdays at 7pm in the Parlor. Starting February 9.

Dug Down Deep Study

What are you going to build your life on? Dug Down Deep is systematic theology like you’ve never seen it before. Readable. Relevant. Powerful.

Our beliefs direct our actions. So it is a good idea to know what you believe.

This group, led by Pastor Rick, will be meeting on Thursdays at 7pm in Room 4. Members will want a copy of the book Dug Down Deep by Joshua Harris. The cost is $11 and can be ordered through Rick. Starting February 9.

Wild At Heart

What is a Christian man? ‘Every man was once a boy. And every little boy has dreams, big dreams: dreams of being the hero, of beating the bad guys, of doing daring feats and rescuing the damsel in distress.’

Come for the food, stay for the discussion. Jump in on small projects that need the right man.

This group, led by Rick Swaim, meets on the 4th Saturday of the month, starting January 21.

Beth Moore Bible Study

Join Beth in an in-depth and very personal examination of this great story of threat and deliverance. She peels back the layers of history and shows how very contemporary and applicable the story of Esther is to our lives. If you’ve ever felt inadequate, threatened, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the study for you.

This group, led by Ellen Swaim, meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month and is already in progress.

Fourth Friday Crop til You Drop

Ladies unite for a creative outlet. Bring your scrapbooking supplies and enjoy some time with friends. You can crop until you wish to crop (cut, design, paste) no more.

Contact Kelly Hurley for any other details.

Primetimers

This group is for those 55 and better. Once a month they meet for food and fellowship. The other time they will have various programs designed for their interests.

This group is led by Elsie Hoppas and meets at various locations. Grab a bulletin for the latest information.

SUNDAY MORNING CONNECTION GROUPS

We also have 3 different Bible studies on Sunday mornings at 9:15.

Koinonia

Beginning in Matthew 17, Jesus covers some pretty tough topics. How do you handle divorce, rich people and sin in the church?

Jesus tackles all the hard topics and even some that are not so hard, unless you try to actually live it. Come be encouraged with teaching from the Gospel of Matthew.

Led by Rick Swaim and meeting in Room 4.

Discovery

You have probably heard of the great Old Testament prophet Elijah. But did you know that his successor, Elisha, had twice as many miracles recorded in the Bible?

If you want to know more about them, you will have to find your way into Room 5 on Sunday mornings.

Led by Wes Smith and meeting in Room 5.

Young(ish) Adults

Each week this class will be digging into a different section of scripture and focusing in on how it affects our daily life. Expect lots of discussion.

Led by Jeff Puckett and meeting in the Fellowship Hall (downstairs).

Library News

Many new books and DVDs have recently been added to your WLFMC library.  One of the unique books was written by a former member of WLFMC, Lori Hearn, who attended here with her husband Mike and daughter Mallory until a job move took them to Tennessee. An Unfamiliar Path is the story of one family’s journey into the unknown.  On April 28, 2010, life for the Hearn family was forever changed when Mike discovered that his health problem, which they assumed focused on a sinus infection, was actually brain cancer.  As you read the account of the ups and downs this young family encountered in Mike’s battle to regain his health you will be inspired by the entire family’s faith and trust in God’s grace to carry them through this unexpected journey.  (Mike is doing well currently; his parents live at Tippecanoe Lake.)  Another challenging book is Not a Fan, written by Kyle Idleman. The author encourages you to consider what it really means to call yourself Christian.  With direct frankness Kyle invites you to take an honest look at your personal relationship with Jesus—and perhaps make some changes in your response to Him.

New items of interest to the children include several DVDs in the “Paws & Tales” series by Chuck Swindoll, conveying biblical wisdom in child-sized doses.  For the youth, “The Seven Sleepers Series” written by Gilbert Morris and published by Moody Press delivers interest-catching fantasy adventures that convey a Christian perspective.  And for those who enjoy reading about the Amish, a new series has begun with intriguing events focused in Shipshewana—almost in our back yards!  Try Falling To Pieces by Vanetta Chapman for some entertaining, wholesome enjoyment.
